How it started.
Mariam grew up with a mother who made their clothes, giving them an early feel for fabric and shape. After a career in media, they enrolled at ESMOD Dubai and started a personal style account on Instagram. That growing audience helped encourage the move into design.
Building Mrs. Keepa.
Mariam and husband Bassel Komaty co-founded Mrs. Keepa, launching the label in May 2016. Its name comes from his nickname, Keepa. The collections draw on travel and vintage clothing, with pieces designed to be worn in several ways and fabrics reused across seasons.
Beyond the style feed.
The label’s Harmonious Chaos collection was selected for a September 2021 presentation through the Welcome to Paris initiative during Paris Fashion Week. In 2024, Mariam introduced the underwater-inspired Inhale couture collection with Sotheby’s Dubai, then presented Need Therapy through a film made with VOX Cinemas. The work continues to connect clothing with stories, from La Boite’s challenge to stereotypes to the CTRL + BLOCK collaboration with e&.
