Mini bio
Grandma’s kitchen.
Matt grew up in Brownsville, Texas, learning to cook from his grandmother Beverly. His Mexican and Syrian heritage, interest in Asian cuisines and Pacific Northwest ingredients all shape the food he shares.
From the line to the camera.
He started restaurant work at 16 and moved to Seattle in 2014 to pursue its food scene and work for Tom Douglas. Palace Kitchen became part of a professional cooking career that lasted more than 12 years. He was already making food photos, videos and occasional farmers’ market pop-ups before his audience grew.
The chopping breakthrough.
After losing his restaurant job during the pandemic, Matt turned to videos full time. Close-up chopping clips caught the attention of ASMR viewers on TikTok. Recipe demonstrations, kitchen techniques and Seattle food recommendations became regular parts of his work.
Something to cook along with.
His first cookbook, Now We’re Cooking, was published in August 2026. In A Cook’s Fridge, he takes fans through grocery runs and shows how ingredients can become several different meals. He has also been developing Char the Chicken, a planned restaurant on Capitol Hill.
