Mini bio
How it started.
Born and raised in Germany, Ela stopped eating meat at six alongside sister Katrin and became vegan in 2011. Before blogging full time, Ela worked as a pharmaceutical technical assistant in a German pharmacy.
From captions to a cookbook.
Ela began sharing food on Instagram in 2015, initially putting recipes in captions. Followers asked for a searchable home for them, and the ElaVegan blog went live by the end of 2016. Requests for a cookbook followed, leading to Simple and Delicious Vegan in January 2023.
Inside the kitchen.
The recipes make room for food allergies, ingredient swaps, and everyday pantry staples. In a 2023 interview with The Edge, Ela described repeatedly adjusting recipes until satisfied, and bringing that same experimental approach to homemade creams, lotions, and soaps.
