How it started.
Miguel grew up in Santarém, Portugal, and graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2004. The early career began at Dior under John Galliano, followed by design roles at Yves Saint Laurent and Lanvin.
The craft behind the spotlight.
Before Mugler, Miguel led tailoring at Dior under Raf Simons, womenswear at Dries Van Noten and creative direction at Sportmax. The Mugler appointment in March 2025 brought that studio experience to a wider audience.

Miguel loved Thierry Mugler’s designs as a child. For the house, that connection became A Trilogy of Glorified Clichés: three collections exploring glamour, power and animal instinct. The clothes draw on cinema and performance while keeping movement and wearability in view.
