Mini bio

How it started.

At 16, Neil launched a job board called Advice Monkey. He expected visitors to show up, then discovered how hard attracting them could be. After paying a marketing firm that brought little result, he began learning online marketing himself.

Finding an audience.

Marketing contracts helped fund Crazy Egg, which he says attracted attention but failed to win venture funding. He and his business partner had to make it profitable. His writing later became another way to share what he was learning; he started NeilPatel.com in August 2014.

Teaching in more ways.

Neil and Eric Siu started Marketing School in July 2016. That September, Neil’s book Hustle arrived, co-written with Patrick Vlaskovits and Jonas Koffler. He co-founded NP Digital in 2017 and continues to share marketing lessons through articles, videos, and podcast conversations.
