Mini bio

How it started.

Pai grew up in southern Thailand with cooking woven into everyday life. She studied nutritional sciences at the University of British Columbia, then trained at Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco and worked in professional kitchens.

Finding her audience.

In 2009, she started Hot Thai Kitchen on YouTube to share the Thai food she knew from home. What began as a hobby alongside restaurant work gradually became her full-time teaching career. Her friend Adam became the cameraman, and her brother Art joined as editor and art director.

Beyond the channel.

Pai brought Thai cooking to Gusto TV’s One World Kitchen in 2015. Her first cookbook, Hot Thai Kitchen, followed in 2016 and won a silver Taste Canada award. Sabai arrived in 2023 with a focus on simpler everyday cooking. In 2024, she joined chef Hong Thaimee to co-host Sabai Talk, a podcast about Thai food and culture.

Still learning, still teaching.

For the 2026 anniversary edition of Hot Thai Kitchen, Pai revisited techniques that had changed over a decade of cooking and added a House Specials chapter. In her Scout interview, she described becoming more practical and efficient after becoming a parent.
