Mini bio

How it started.

Pati grew up in Mexico City in a family that loved cooking. After moving to Texas, she taught Mexican cooking to friends and neighbors and worked as a production assistant on New Tastes from Texas. In Washington, she earned a Georgetown master’s and worked at the Inter-American Dialogue before choosing culinary school and a career in food.

Finding her table.

She became resident chef at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington in 2007. Cooking classes and a blog helped lead to Pati’s Mexican Table, which reached public television in 2011. Her recipes bring home cooking together with visits to the people and places behind Mexico’s regional dishes.

Across the Americas.

La Frontera took her storytelling to both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border in 2021. PanAmericana followed in 2025, beginning in Alaska and Canada. Alongside her television work, she writes cookbooks, including Treasures of the Mexican Table and 2026’s Foods of La Frontera.
