Mini bio
How it started.
Mark Phillips and Affiong Harris founded RDCWorld in Waco, Texas, and began posting to YouTube in 2012. Their original ambition was to make manga and anime. In a 2018 Tubefilter interview, the group explained that the channel began as promotion for their manga The Resistance, before comedy became a way to build an audience.
Finding their people.
Their anime sketches and basketball parodies grew out of the things the friends already loved. Sports Illustrated traced their NBA locker-room videos to the 2016 Finals. In 2021, LeBron James shared their reaction to the James Harden trade, bringing the joke back to one of its inspirations.
A place to meet.
RDCWorld launched Dream Con in Waco in 2018. In their founders’ message, they explain that other conventions had ignored or turned them away, so they built a welcoming event of their own. Dream Con moved to Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center in 2025.
Beyond the sketch.
Alongside Anime House, Video Game House and live gaming, the group makes longer films such as Imagine That and The League of Extra Ordinary Heroes. Their seven-member lineup includes Mark, Affiong, Leland Manigo, Desmond Johnson, Ben Skinner, Dylan Patel and John Newton.
