How it started.
Riya’s interest in fashion grew through dressing for college and hearing people ask about their outfits. In 2014, that enthusiasm became Caught In A Cuff. In an interview with The Lifestyle Journalist, Riya recalled that encouragement from people who liked their style helped prompt the decision to start a blog.
Finding an audience.
Caught In A Cuff became so recognisable that followers sometimes knew the blog name without knowing Riya’s real name. Riya explained to Times of India that this prompted the change to @riyajain, while keeping the CIAC community identity.
Beyond the outfit post.
Riya’s work expanded into beauty, travel and brand collaborations. TED’s speaker introduction lists work with Jimmy Choo, Maybelline and L’Oréal. A 2019 TEDxGLIMGurgaon talk explored the journey into blogging; a 2022 Uptownie capsule collection brought the personal-style work into clothing.
