How it started.
Sally grew up baking with her mother and grandmother. After studying communication with a marketing concentration, she settled in the Baltimore area. In December 2011, she started sharing recipes online; a year and a half later, she left her full-time job to build the blog into a business.
The cookie that caught on.
A cake-batter chocolate-chip cookie photographed with her then-boyfriend’s camera went viral on Pinterest. Sally told Baltimore Magazine that the resulting traffic made her realize baking online could become a career.
Teaching the why.
Her recipes explain ingredients, techniques, and the lessons from testing. The personal blog became Sally’s Baking Addiction, now called Sally’s Baking, with a team supporting recipe development and videos. Her four cookbooks extend that teaching, from candy and cookies to the sweet and savory recipes in Sally’s Baking 101.
