Mini bio
A family kitchen start.
Saransh grew up in Delhi, watching his mother and grandfather cook and following Sanjeev Kapoor’s Khana Khazana. He kept a recipe notebook, then trained in Culinary Arts at IHM Aurangabad, graduating in 2008.
Finding his audience.
Winning FOOD FOOD Maha Challenge in 2011 brought him into food television. He went on to host Roti Rasta aur India, meeting cooks and learning regional food traditions on a road journey. His book India on My Platter carries that same curiosity into stories and recipes from around the country.
The dish that became a name.
His butter chicken began with a gravy he developed so his vegetarian parents could enjoy the flavours too. Friends helped turn it into the hashtag #GoilaButterChicken. In 2016, he and his IHM batchmate Vivek Sahani started the business in Mumbai. A 2018 MasterChef Australia pressure test brought his butter chicken and roomali roti to another audience.
Still experimenting.
His online work moves between regional street food and playful recipe combinations. Remix brings guests into those experiments, while The Best, launched in November 2026, compares different versions of familiar dishes through taste tests.
