Mini bio
How it started.
Before interiors became her career, Shea studied communications at Brigham Young University and worked in public relations. Sharing changes to her own home online gave her a creative outlet and an audience. She took interior design classes, began accepting clients and launched Studio McGee with her husband, Syd, in 2014.
Building a life around design.
The couple sold their California home and moved to Utah to build the firm, with Shea leading design and Syd running operations. Their furniture and decor business, McGee & Co., followed in 2016. Dream Home Makeover brought their client projects and family life to Netflix in 2020.
More ways to make a home.
Shea’s work now stretches from residential interiors to books, product collections and teaching. The Art of Home explains her room-by-room approach, while her MasterClass session guides viewers through designing their own space. In 2026, Around the Table brought her interest in cooking and hosting into her first cookbook.
