Mini bio

How it started.

Shuja grew up around music: his grandfather Master Sadiq Ali played piano, and his father was a singer. He established his recording studio, Speed of Sound, in 1996. Production became a foundation of his career, including work with Haroon and Ahmed Jahanzeb.

Finding his voice.

Tera Woh Pyar introduced listeners to Shuja as a singer. In a 2017 interview, he credited his brother Naqash with persuading him to sing it. He also worked with filmmaker Shoaib Mansoor on Khuda Kay Liye and Bol before becoming a familiar voice and composer on Pakistani drama soundtracks.

The Coke Studio years.

He joined Coke Studio as a music director in 2016. That season included Aaqa for Abida Parveen and Ali Sethi, and the Tera Woh Pyar medley sung by Momina Mustehsan and Asim Azhar. He returned across subsequent seasons, with work including Baanware and Jind Mahiya.

Writing for the feeling.

His soundtrack work includes Mann Mayal, Baaghi, Alif and Meem Se Mohabbat. Baaghi earned him the 2018 Lux Style Award for Best Original Soundtrack. By 2026 he was also mentoring singers and producing music for Pakistan Idol. He told Synergyzer that personal experience remains central to how he writes.
