Mini bio
How it started.
Simon Tofield grew up drawing animals and making flipbooks. While learning Adobe Flash, he turned his cat Hugh's insistent wake-up calls into Cat Man Do. The short went viral on YouTube in 2008, and Simon's Cat Ltd was formed after the follow-up, Let Me In.
A world beyond the cat flap.
The first book arrived in 2009, giving Tofield room to expand the characters and their world. A growing production team followed. Fans helped fund Off to the Vet in 2014, taking the familiar cat-and-owner struggle into a longer colour film. The project also moved into mobile games, collaborating with Tactile Games on Crunch Time in 2017.

Tofield continues to direct the films. The 2026 Kitten Quest special credits him and Rachel Thorn as directors and writers, with animation by Thorn and Emma Wakley. Tofield also supplies its character voices.
