Mini bio

How it started.

Stephanie started Nerd About Town in 2008 while studying law, giving herself a creative outlet. Her blog became a home for plus-size fashion, beauty, body image and travel.

Finding a wider audience.

Her audience grew sharply in 2020 as people sought out Black creators during the resurgence of Black Lives Matter. In a CORQ interview, she described the attention as bittersweet because it followed tragedy, and questioned how much of that support lasted.

Writing her own space.

Her 2020 debut, Fattily Ever After, explores self-acceptance and life as a Black, plus-size woman. She has also written for British Vogue, The Guardian and Condé Nast Traveller. Her fiction brings that interest in representation into romance, beginning with Chaotic Energy in 2025 and continuing with Doing it for the Plot in 2026.
