Mini bio
How it started.
Tiffany learned money fundamentals from her accountant father and found her love of teaching while working at a childcare center. After the 2008 financial crisis cost her her job, debt and the loss of her home forced her to move back in with family. Rebuilding her own finances helped shape the work she would do as The Budgetnista.
A classroom that kept growing.
Her ten years as a preschool teacher in Newark shaped her approach to financial education. Through the Live Richer movement, she built a community whose members call themselves Dream Catchers. Her 2021 bestseller Get Good with Money laid out a ten-step approach to financial wholeness, followed by the hands-on workbook Made Whole in 2023.
Money conversations, together.
Tiffany and Mandi Woodruff-Santos launched Brown Ambition in 2015, bringing money, careers, and the experiences of women of color into the same conversation. Tiffany stepped away from regular hosting in late 2024. Her teaching also reached viewers through Netflix’s Get Smart With Money and her PBS special.
Beyond her own platforms.
In 2019, she partnered with New Jersey Assemblywoman Angela V. McKnight on legislation requiring financial education in the state’s middle schools. In 2025 she took her own story to a Senate forum on education costs, and in 2026 she joined AFT’s financial education campaign.
