Mini bio

Poetry came first.

Usama and Ahad Khan were childhood friends who bonded over poetry. They helped each other write social media captions and spent hours writing together before putting songs on YouTube. In their Fuchsia interview, they credited a coaching instructor, Sir Obaid, with teaching them about lyricism and rap.

Finding AUR.

Alongside producer Raffey Anwar, Usama and Ahad built AUR around their writing and music. The trio told Fuchsia that they worked to support their music themselves, and that trust in one another helped them keep going. “Tu Hai Kahan” became their breakout in 2023, spreading through social media.

Urdu, in his own voice.

Usama told The National that he sees himself as more of a poet than a singer. He described the language of “Tu Hai Kahan” as everyday, conversational Urdu, written to feel like a direct conversation with the listener. A new version with Zayn followed in January 2024, taking the song to another audience.

The writing continues.

His credits extend to “Chal Diye Tum Kahan” from Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, the Asim Azhar collaboration “TUM”, and AUR’s Safarnama EP. On Safarnama, he shares composition and lyric credits on every track.
