Mini bio
How it started.
Whitney studied journalism before training in medicine at the University of Vermont, completing a pediatrics residency at Stanford, and earning an MPH at UC Berkeley. Becoming a mother brought challenges her clinical training had not prepared her for. Returning to work added another layer, and she began rethinking what parents and children actually need.
From blog to bookshelf.
Her early Modern Mommy Doc posts grew into a two-book deal with the American Academy of Pediatrics. The New Baby Blueprint arrived in 2020, followed by The Working Mom Blueprint in 2021. In her own account of her career, Doing It All marked a turning point: she invested in publicity herself and became more selective about media opportunities.
What she shares now.
Through her books and The Modern Mommy Doc Podcast, Whitney brings pediatric knowledge into conversations about everyday family life. Her work includes working-parent overload, children’s development, and body confidence. My One-of-a-Kind Body speaks directly to kids, while Raising Body-Confident Kids helps parents reconsider the messages they pass along about bodies.
