Born and raised in Caracas, Winiela Alvarez grew up making dresses for her dolls while her mother sewed for clients. Her mother and maternal grandmother both made wedding dresses. She moved to the United States in 2009 and later studied fashion illustration at Massachusetts College of Art and Design and fashion design in Miami.
Building her own label.
She established Wini Alvarez in 2016. In her 2020 VoyageMIA interview, she described a taste for structured couture jumpsuits and architectural volume, shaped by the clothes she loved wearing herself.
Finding WiniTips.
During the pandemic, Wini turned toward natural cosmetics and began posting TikTok content in March 2020. In her 2021 Shoutout Miami interview, she described learning from viewers’ questions and building a community around skin and hair routines. Her rice-mask tutorials later drew coverage from Spanish beauty publications.
