Mini bio
How it started.
Ahmed remembers copying a person his mother drew, then drawing Batman. His grandmother painted in oils, and Ian McCaig’s instructional DVDs became an early influence. In 2009, he moved from Ohio to California to attend ArtCenter, choosing art over engineering.
From concept art to teaching.
He graduated in Entertainment Design and worked at ArenaNet on Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns. He also taught at ArtCenter and CG Master Academy. His drawing-process videos brought his teaching to a wider audience on YouTube.
A classroom online.
Med’s Map adapts concepts he taught at ArtCenter into an online course. It takes students from form, value and color through portrait painting, shape design and lighting, with demonstrations and guided assignments.
An art battle milestone.
In May 2018, Ahmed won the LIMITS World Grand Prix. His course biography also identifies him as a world champion of the digital art battle.
