Mini bio
How it started.
Brittany became interested in nutrition and cooking while studying marketing at George Mason University. After graduating in 2007, she started Eating Bird Food in 2008 as a food journal. The name came from her college roommate teasing her about all the trail mix she ate.
A journal becomes a career.
She worked in digital marketing while building the blog, then left her role at Relay Foods in 2014 to focus on Eating Bird Food full-time. The site grew into a recipe resource; during the spring pandemic period described in a Richmond Family Magazine profile, it passed 1.5 million monthly users. Brittany now describes an audience of more than a million social media followers.
What fans come for.
Her recipes make room for vegetables, satisfying breakfasts and meals that can be prepped ahead. She calls overnight oats the most-made recipe on her site. Her 2023 cookbook, Mostly Veggies, brings her approach to plant-focused meals and seasonal meal planning into print. Her current recipe work emphasizes protein and fiber, with many gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan options.
