Mini bio
How it started.
Omar grew up in New York City and attended Stuyvesant High School before studying at New York University. He earned both an MD and a PhD, then trained in dermatology at Harvard and completed fellowship training in Mohs, reconstructive, laser and cosmetic surgery at UC Davis.
Building his own place.
Working with laser specialist R. Rox Anderson helped shape his interest in using light in medicine. He founded Connecticut Skin Institute in Stamford in fall 2012 and added a Milford location in 2017.
Bringing fans into dermatology.
As @ctskindoc, he shares skincare education and close-up demonstrations of dermatology procedures. His YouTube channel began in January 2015. Shorts about eye protection during laser treatment, tattoo removal and CoolSculpting became some of the channel’s most watched videos.
Still learning and teaching.
Alongside his online work, he publishes research and teaches other clinicians. In 2025 he received ASLMS’s Leon Goldman Memorial Award, and in May 2026 he began his term as the society’s president.
