Mini bio

How it started.

Growing up in Oklahoma City, Isabel ate the food her parents cooked from scratch. Away at college, she missed those meals and called her mom for help. Because her mom cooked by feel, Isabel worked out measurements through trial and error. In 2015, she began sharing the recipes online to preserve them and connect with her Mexican heritage.

Finding her focus.

In her 2019 Food Blogger Pro interview, Isabel described narrowing her blog’s focus to Mexican food and choosing the name Isabel Eats to leave room to grow. The site became her full-time work in 2017. In 2019, it was a SAVEUR Blog Awards finalist in Weeknight Dinners.

Building a family business.

After taking part in Raptive’s spring 2022 Remarkable Voices program, Isabel expanded her team. In a 2023 alumni interview, she said the business had grown enough for her husband to leave his job and join her. By her October 2025 Food Blogger Pro appearance, she was discussing two million monthly pageviews and how to keep creating while running a growing business.

From the website to books.

In 2024, she published The Mexican Kitchen: Essentials, Main Dishes, and Drinks & Desserts. The three digital books bring together 120 recipes plus ingredient guides and pantry advice. She is also working on her first printed cookbook, which she told a reader in June 2026 was planned for mid-2027.
