Mini bio
How it started.
Isa and Julia met at the Berlin publication Mit Vergnügen and bonded over food. In 2016 they launched Zucker&Jagdwurst as a home for their cooking and baking ideas. Isa had already written a baking column there as “Isa Zucker,” which supplied the sweet half of the blog’s name.
Making it their work.
For the first three years, they fitted the blog around Isa’s studies and side job and Julia’s full-time work. As more readers cooked their recipes and brands approached them, the project grew. In 2020 they began working on Zucker&Jagdwurst full time. That year also brought their first print Vegan Guide, followed by their first vegan Advent calendar in 2021.
Familiar food, plant-based.
Their recurring idea is to make classic dishes vegan without losing the pleasure of comfort food. Their first cookbook, Vegan durch den Tag, appeared in November 2022. Deutsche Küche Vegan followed in January 2025, focusing on German dishes associated with grandparents’ kitchens. Today they work with a Berlin team and keep the blog’s recipes, videos and articles free to read.
