Mini bio
Family first.
Jocelyn grew up in Chicago and visited her grandmother, known as Big Mama, in Winona, Mississippi. Watching the women in her family bake became the foundation for the Southern recipes she now shares with fans.
How it started.
While working in event production, she turned to baking for relaxation and brought cakes to work. In 2012 she launched Grandbaby Cakes, combining her place as Big Mama’s grandbaby with the nickname Baby Cakes that coworkers gave her.
Finding her audience.
An early baking competition win for her red velvet Mississippi mud pie brought a surge of readers and interest from brands. Her first cookbook followed in 2015, turning family stories and cake recipes into a book fans could keep in their own kitchens.
Beyond the cake stand.
Everyday Grand, written with Olga Massov, widened the table to Southern comfort food and reasons to celebrate ordinary days. On screen, she co-hosted Stab That Cake! and has judged baking competitions including Disney’s Magic Bake-Off and Santa’s Baking Blizzard. In a 2026 interview, she discussed expanding into ready-made cakes with Everyday Grand at Walmart.
