Mini bio

Making her own opportunities.

Originally from Alberta, Julie moved to Toronto to become an actor. After theatre school and several difficult years of auditions, she began creating work she could write and perform herself. Her early channel, Feeling Peckish, combined cooking with sketches and led to work with Tastemade. She eventually steered it toward the comedy she had wanted to make all along.

A conversation across time.

On April 9, 2020, she posted Explaining the Pandemic to my Past Self, imagining a conversation with the January 2020 version of herself. It became her breakout and grew into a series. Fans also know Mirror Julie, her recurring conversations with a drunken reflection.

From solo sketches to shared stages.

In 2022 she introduced Pulp Comedy, a collaborative troupe of six Canadian comedy writers and actors. Alongside her channel, she played Sam in Run the Burbs and took a leading role in The Wedding Rule. Her one woman show Dying on the Outside premiered in December 2024 before touring Canada. In 2026 the Canadian Academy named her its inaugural Creator of the Year.
