Mini bio
How it started.
Kat began pursuing writing seriously in 2009, blogging about learning the craft and completing her first novel. In a 2013 interview, she explained that she moved into vlogging in 2011 because video let her share her enthusiasm for storytelling more personally.
Finding her readers.
Reading recommendations, book hauls, and writing lessons became the heart of Katytastic. She also hosted the Booksplosion book club alongside Christine Riccio and Jesse George. Her 27-chapter outlining approach became a lasting part of her work, with Campfire’s writing guide crediting her with introducing the method on YouTube.
Building a book in public.
In January 2025, Kat returned to YouTube and began How to Build a Book, revisiting her outlining method through a work in progress. Episodes followed character development, multiple points of view, and the decision to expand a standalone into a series. In February she read the opening chapters under the title Unfinished Business.
