How it started.
Lauren’s YouTube account was created in May 2015. Under the name Lauren and the Books, she built a channel around book chat, reading and vlogs, with food and her cat Minnie also appearing in her channel description.
Reading together.
Cosy Reading Night became a recurring way for viewers to share time with their books. Bustle featured the UK-based creator’s three-hour reading event in March 2017. In 2024, she was announced as its host for Independent Bookshop Week for the fourth year, inviting readers to share their choices on Instagram.
A place for the bookish chat.
Lauren welcomed supporters to Patreon in August 2018, setting out plans for early videos, exclusive uploads, polls and giveaways. Her work also reaches podcast listeners: she joined Philippa Hall on Quick Book Reviews in December 2024 to swap Christmas reading recommendations.
What she is making now.
In 2026, Lauren’s videos range from monthly reading round-ups and nonfiction challenges to charity-shop book hunting and audiobooks while crocheting. That September, she shared a vlog about hosting her first book event, organised by The Little Green Bookshop in Herne Bay.
