How it started.
Marielle brought the skills of a working writer and photographer into her own fashion platform. In a 2020 interview with Thoughtful Flamingo, she described founding the social media management firm 21st Century Nonsense and using the same skills for her Instagram and blog. Her 2019 Patreon review already counted four years of work under the Marielle Elizabeth name.
Making room.
She started #SlowFashionForAll to encourage body diversity in ethical fashion. Her own experience of struggling to find clothes informs work that combines personal style with questions about access. The List, her website directory, helps readers find ethically made clothing beyond a size 18.
Reaching more readers.
Her 2020 essay for The Cut became a widely shared account of exclusion from winter sports, as the She Explores podcast later described. Vogue bylines followed, covering sustainable plus-size fashion, shopping and the people pushing the industry toward wider representation.
