Mini bio

How it started.

Molly grew up in the Chicago suburbs and moved to New York to study percussion at Juilliard. She began blogging in 2009, extending a lifelong habit of keeping diaries into recipes and stories online.

Finding her kitchen.

In 2013, she left Brooklyn for the Minnesota farm where her future husband, Nick Hagen, was a fifth-generation farmer. Her recipes brought together Chinese and Jewish family food with the Midwestern cooking around her.

The breakout.

Her pretzel challah caught Food52’s attention and helped her audience grow. Saveur named my name is yeh its Blog of the Year in 2015. Her debut cookbook, Molly on the Range, followed in 2016 and won the IACP Judge’s Choice award in 2017.

From blog to screen.

Girl Meets Farm premiered on June 24, 2018, bringing her farmhouse cooking to Food Network. She continued writing cookbooks and, with Nick, became an owner of Bernie’s, a bakery café celebrating East Grand Forks food traditions.
