Mini bio
How it started.
Orlando grew up in Yosemite National Park and studied at Cornell and the University of Pennsylvania. He worked in music publicity in New York before returning to California. His design break came as Emily Henderson’s assistant on Secrets from a Stylist.
Finding his voice.
He built his own design practice and created Hommemaker, the blog that became OrlandoSoria.com. In 2018, he published Get It Together! An Interior Designer’s Guide to Creating Your Best Life, mixing decorating projects with practical life advice and photographs by Zeke Ruelas.
Rooms for a new chapter.
After a 2017 breakup, decorating his own new home helped him through the change. That experience inspired the television concept he developed with 51 Minds and HGTV. It became Unspouse My House and then Build Me Up. In 2024, he joined Liza Koshy on Empty Nest Refresh to help young adults remake rooms for their parents.
What fans can follow now.
His newsletter, The Lost Arrow, pairs design updates with personal essays. Londo Lodge, his renovated vacation home near Yosemite’s South Gate, is a continuing source of room projects, repairs and lessons learned along the way.
