How it started.
Remy began posting food pictures in college as part of her eating-disorder recovery, using Instagram as a diary alongside therapy. Friends discovered the account through Facebook, and a community gathered around what she was cooking. After leaving a job in midtown Manhattan, she found that the account could support her financially and made creating her full-time work.
Cooking her way home.
Veggiekins brings together her Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese heritage with vegan cooking. Her debut cookbook, Sesame, Soy, Spice, arrived in 2024 with 90 vegan and gluten-free recipes. Dishes such as Japanese kare with popcorn tofu and miso caramel crème brûlée sit alongside reflections on family, culture and wellness.
The matcha connection.
Remy grew up drinking tea at her grandmother’s home, where matcha brought back from Japan was kept in the freezer. That memory helped inspire Frauth. Her brand sources Japanese matcha from multigenerational family farms, including Hana from Yame on Kyushu.
