Mini bio
A friendship first.
Rhett and Link met on the first day of first grade in Buies Creek, North Carolina, in 1984. Their teacher kept them inside during recess for writing on their desks and had them color mythical beasts. Their friendship became the center of their creative lives.
From engineering to the internet.
Rhett graduated from NC State in civil engineering in 2000 and worked as an engineer before pursuing entertainment. The pair started their YouTube channel in 2006 after seeing other people upload their videos and attract bigger audiences. Comedy songs, sketches and local commercials helped establish their voice.
Life at the Mythical desk.
Good Mythical Morning began in 2012. Its food experiments, taste tests, games and conversations grew into the flagship of Mythical, the entertainment studio Rhett founded with Link. Their work also includes Ear Biscuits, books and the comedy series Wonderhole.
A different kind of songwriting.
As James and the Shame, Rhett released Human Overboard in 2022. The country project explores his changing beliefs and his departure from Christianity, drawing on musical influences including Jason Isbell, Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson. In 2026, he and Link added children’s publishing to their shared work with Spaghetti Head & Chicken Fingers.
