Mini bio
How it started.
Hugh Forte made Sara the original Sprouted Kitchen blog as a gift in 2009. She developed the recipes and writing while he shaped its photography and design. Sara’s earlier work included a grocery store and two farms, experiences she describes on her own site.
From blog to books.
The Sprouted Kitchen became her first cookbook in 2012, with photographs by Hugh. Its seasonal, whole-food approach earned a 2013 James Beard nomination in Focus on Health. Bowl and Spoon followed in 2015, gathering meals around a single vessel.
Dinner in everyday life.
After becoming a parent, Sara wanted her work to fit the way her family actually ate. Sprouted Kitchen Cooking Club became her focus, offering weekly recipes and grocery lists. Around Our Table, her third cookbook, carried that practical approach into meals for family and friends in 2024.
