Mini bio
How it started.
Sarah began My New Roots in October 2007 to share what she had learned studying holistic nutrition in Toronto. After moving to Copenhagen, she found she could not practise there with her qualification. Cooking kept coming to mind, so she approached vegetarian-friendly restaurants and found someone willing to give her a start. She describes herself as a self-taught cook.
From recipes to books.
The blog grew into a home for her recipes and photography, including The Life-Changing Loaf of Bread. My New Roots won a Saveur Best Food Blog award in 2014. Her first cookbook, My New Roots, followed in 2015, then Naturally Nourished in 2017, focused on vegetarian meals made with supermarket ingredients.
Beyond the blog.
Sarah returned to the Toronto area in 2017 after nine years in Copenhagen. Her work now also includes My New Roots Grow, an online cooking and wellness membership, and Golden Circle Retreats with Mikkala Marilyn Kissi. She has hosted Food Network Canada’s The Substitute Baker.
