Mini bio
The mirror came first.
Shannen grew up in Melbourne. In their early fashion diary, they describe photographing outfits in a large mirror their dad brought home from a building site. Everyday outfits became the foundation of their online work.
Turning posts into a career.
In a 2017 blog post, Shannen recalled brands first reaching out around July 2013. Paid work followed in early 2014, and by early 2016 blogging supported leaving their job. Mirror selfies remained their signature rather than staged daily shoots.
From clothes to conversations.
Shannen went on to launch SJP by Shannen Jai, designing wardrobe pieces inspired by what followers asked about. They now also co-host Still Not Straight with Tessa, talking about dating women, coming out and relationships. In July 2026, they added the solo listener-advice series Shan Says.
