Mini bio
How it started.
Before food became her job, Anna studied economics and worked in finance and PR. At 24, a newspaper article about following your passion prompted her to apply to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen. She later joined his food team, working on styling, recipes, books and television.
Finding her own voice.
Recipe writing for Innocent helped open the door to her first solo cookbook, A Modern Way to Eat, in 2014. Her books made vegetables the starting point for everyday meals. The Modern Cook’s Year went on to win both the Guild of Food Writers Cookery Book Award and the Observer Food Monthly Best New Cookbook award in 2018.
What she cooks now.
Her fifth cookbook, Easy Wins, builds meals around twelve ingredients that bring flavour, including lemons, mustard and tahini. Her weekly newsletter is now the home for new recipes and guest takeovers, following years of writing a recipe column for The Guardian. In June 2026 she marked twelve years since sending her first newsletter.
