How it started.

Edd grew up with baking at home. His earliest memory is standing on a stool helping his mum make mince pies. He studied politics at university, then realised that corporate life was not for him.

The first Bake Off winner.

Winning the inaugural Great British Bake Off in 2010 gave him the chance to make baking his career. His first cookbook, The Boy Who Bakes, followed in 2011, with Say It With Cake in 2012 and Patisserie Made Simple in 2014.

Recipes to keep you baking.

One Tin Bakes explored how much could be made in a single baking tin. Small Batch Bakes focused on smaller households and became a Sunday Times bestseller. He followed it with Small Batch Cookies and, in 2026, Chocolate Baking.

Beyond the books.

Fans can find his recipes and baking guides in The Boy Who Bakes newsletter. His writing also appears in magazines including Olive and Bake from Scratch, and his television work includes appearances on Saturday Kitchen, Sunday Brunch and Good Morning America.
