Food and family.
Emani grew up in the California Bay Area loving her great-grandmother’s greens, her aunt’s mac and cheese and her mother’s cheesecake. After watching What the Health, she gave up meat and dairy and began sharing her experiments with vegan cooking.
Finding her community.
In her 2026 Substack introduction, Emani recalled how Erin Ireland reshared her work and helped her page grow. She described building an audience through patience and consistency, eventually reaching more than 300,000 Instagram followers.
Recipes to keep.
Her 2023 cookbook, Blk + Vegan: Full-Flavor, Protein-Packed Recipes from My Kitchen to Yours, brings plant-based versions of family favorites to the table, including jambalaya and Caribbean rice and beans. In 2026, she introduced a Substack under Emani Edogun, giving written recipes, meal prep and community conversations a home.
