How it started.
Jake had years of experience at the grill before building an online audience. In his Smeeple biography, he describes more than 12 years of grilling, smoking and barbecuing, alongside his work as a paramedic. Famous Birthdays dates his first TikTok cooking posts to August 2021.
The recipe that travelled.
His poor man’s burnt ends video, posted on April 24, 2023, reached almost eight million views by the time Dexerto covered it later that month. The article also described Jake answering viewers’ recipe questions, giving new followers a way to learn from him beyond watching the cook.
Beyond the feed.
Jake’s work includes his own seasoning shop, recipes for Pit Boss and collaborations with Heath Riles. Pit Boss credits him with Campsite Cherry Crunch, a Dutch oven dessert. In 2025, Riles featured Jake’s boudin-stuffed, bacon-wrapped shrimp and credited it with an 11th-place team finish at Memphis in May.
