Mini bio

Backyard beginnings.

Brad grew up in Phoenix, learning to grill from family and neighbors. His wife’s Mexican heritage helped bring chiles, citrus and the flavors of Sonora into his cooking. Chiles and Smoke became his place to share those experiments.

Learning to share it.

His wife encouraged him to post on Instagram. In summer 2018, he bought his first DSLR and taught himself food photography through YouTube. The recipes and pictures grew into work as a recipe developer, writer and photographer.

The taco that traveled.

On March 23, 2023, Brad shared his smash burger tacos: beef pressed onto a tortilla, seared and finished with burger toppings. The recipe spread across social media and drew coverage from Good Morning America. He had made the mashup for his sons when the family was out of burger buns.

From posts to cookbooks.

His debut cookbook, Chiles and Smoke, arrived in March 2023 with more than 65 recipes built around chiles and fire. Epic BBQ Sandwiches followed in March 2026. Alongside the recipes, his brand now includes seasonings and sauces.
