Mini bio

Food came first.

Growing up in Bombay, Kunal spent time watching his grandmothers cook and helping his grandfather in the kitchen. His working life began in advertising and theatre; he spent 11 years at Da Cunha Associates as a copywriter and visualiser.

From columns to television.

His Bombay Times humour column, Fool’s Stop, gave way to a food column called Cordon Blah. In 2006, the newly launching Times Now approached him to host The Foodie. Travelling and eating across India became his television calling card, with the show running from 2006 to 2015.

A familiar comic face.

Alongside food, Kunal built a comedy partnership with Cyrus Broacha on The Week That Wasn’t. His screen work also includes directing and writing the 2009 comedy Fruit & Nut, starring Broacha and Boman Irani.

More ways to share a meal.

Jaico published Made in India in 2015, bringing together 60 recipes with his food memories and observations. On YouTube, Khaane Mein Kya Hai carries that curiosity into street stalls, restaurants and regional kitchens, with guests joining him to talk over food.
