Mini bio
How it started.
Palak’s cooking grew out of a large Indian family where feeding people was a way of showing love. In her Newsette interview, she recalled cooking more after getting married and finding room to experiment. Her mother’s ability to adapt ingredients and spices became a lasting influence on her own recipes.
Finding her audience.
The Chutney Life brought that approach online: familiar Indian flavors, practical shortcuts and dishes that cross cuisines. Her publisher describes a blog that makes Indian cooking accessible, from tempering whole spices to giving canned tomato soup a ginger-and-garlic upgrade. Alongside recipes, she shares fashion, beauty and motherhood content.
From blog to bookshelf.
Her debut cookbook arrived through Abrams Books on October 24, 2023. Its 100 recipes pair family memories with Indian-American cooking, including Masala Pot Pies and Crispy Barbecue Chicken Keema Tacos. Bucks Happening later reported that the book made the USA Today national bestseller list.
Beyond recipes.
Palak has extended her food into collaborations. Her Williams Sonoma collection includes rubs, brines, sauces and starters inspired by family recipes. For Diwali 2025, she also worked with Malai on desserts including coconut burfi ice cream cake and peanut butter chocolate kulfi pops.
