Mini bio
How it started.
Peter grew up baking with his mum in Edinburgh. Watching John Whaite and James Morton on Bake Off in 2012 turned that childhood activity into a passion. He learned by watching food programmes and trying techniques in his own kitchen.
The tent that changed things.
In 2020, Peter won the show that had inspired him, becoming its youngest champion at 20 and its first Scottish winner. Filming meant seven weeks in a Covid bubble with his fellow bakers. He was still studying at the University of Edinburgh.
Recipes to grow with.
His first cookbook, Peter Bakes, arrived in October 2021 with recipes ranging from simple cakes to patisserie, all with a gluten-free option. Peter’s Baking Party followed in October 2022, encouraging young cooks to build confidence through recipes and step-by-step instructions.
Beyond the kitchen.
After graduating in 2023, he served as Edinburgh University Sports Union president for 2023–24 and later trained at pastry school in Las Vegas. His baking work now includes recipes online, teaching and Talking Cakes, the guest-and-baking-challenge show he debuted at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe.
