Mini bio

A start in Kolkata.

Pooja grew up in Kolkata and began baking with her mother. After completing her undergraduate studies, she moved to New York to study pastry at the Institute of Culinary Education. She later returned to Kolkata and opened Cake by Pooja.

Finding her audience.

When the pandemic interrupted her plans to work in a bakery in 2020, she cooked at home and posted more frequently. Her blog grew, and friends and family helped her choose the name The Global Vegetarian.

Her kitchen today.

Now a full-time recipe developer in Jersey City, she draws on Indian food and her travels. She points to chaat dip and vegetarian sliders as recipes that helped her reach fans on social media.
